Rus Alit and Appropriate Technology
Camp Bali's is normally run at BATI which was founded by Russ and Made Alit. Many of Rus's technologies can be found here. Rus runs Appropriate Tech training camps organizations interested can enquire about booking by emailing Rus at rus_alit@yahoo.com Rus Alit is an Appropriate Technologist, which by my definition is someone who visits third world countries and introduces simple but effective technologies, "Appropriate" for the local peoples, climate and culture. BATI is a training institute used to teach others about appropriate technology and you can learn how to make your own pumps and water tanks. Rus worked with World Vision for many years but now contracts for various projects.
In these shots you can see a few of the farming techniques and technologies Rus has implemented throughout the third world. The first frame are water tanks and sand filter system, the second is a homemade ram pump that feeds the tanks. The water wheel although now more a decorative feature also drives a rice dehusking machine. The last two frames are some of the livestock that supply the fuel for the biogas unit.
