Bird Trap
Here we have a bird trap that was traditionally used to catch ground birds. The good thing about this trap is the birds remain in a healthy state and can be kept for later use. Typically they were kept until a good number was reached and then they were dispatched and prepared in one go. This trap can obviously be used for other type of animals.

The trigger is activated by a pressure plate that when depressed releases the toggle. The toggle has a sharpened point that is inserted into a hole in the pressure plate. You don't want a "hair trigger" as the trap may activate too early but you also need to consider the weight of the animal or bird you are trying to capture.
The victims in the following photos are two young free range chickens which seem to have a rather short term memory as they have been captured and released on a few occasions.
